UW HSIP- Annual TB Screen
You are required by your program to complete an updated Tuberculosis (TB) Screening.
HSIP recommends using the same TB screening method you used for the initial TB requirement to avoid issues with onboarding. You may fulfill the requirement through an IGRA Blood Draw or PPD skin tests.
If you decide to complete a single PPD skin test, then it is possible that your practicum site may not accept it as an updated TB screening if:
· You previously completed an IGRA Blood Draw. When switching from previously getting an IGRA blood draw to PPD, TWO consecutive PPD skin tests with the second placed between 1-3 weeks after the first is read are generally required.
· You completed a two-step PPD skin test over a year ago.
You and/or your program will need to verify with your practicum site that they will accept your single PPD skin test as your updated TB screening. If they are not willing to accept your single PPD skin test, then you will need to either:
· Complete a SECOND PPD skin test. The second PPD skin test MUST be placed within 1-3 weeks from the first PPD skin test's date read. If this is not possible, then you will need to restart your two-step PPD skin test and submit the documentation for approval.
· Complete an IGRA blood draw. Full lab report is required for submission.
Once you have completed the updated TB screening, please submit the records into your Med+Proctor account for approval.
If you have any questions regarding why you are required to complete an updated TB screening, please contact your program to discuss further. If you have any other questions, please contact HSIP at myshots@uw.edu.
